Here’s what you should do on weekends to make sure you start the new work week with less stress:

    1. Explore the vastness of nature .

If you’re like many people, you’re trapped inside for the majority of the workweek. Successful folks use the weekend to go out, absorb some sunshine, and see the great outdoors.

In fact, as the Atlantic previously reported, a Stanford University study found that going on a quick stroll outside can reduce stress and prevent depression. Also, staying in a totally natural environment and appreciating it’s beauty can really go a long way in helping you have a balanced mental state.

    2. Regular exercise.

You need to realize that exercise plays a crucial role in determining our physical and mental health — so you don’t have to get lazy and skip your workouts over the weekend.

According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, physical activity can seriously boost your mood and relieve stress.

    3. The power of meditation

Creating time for meditation is really a  great way to decompress and reduce your stress level.

According to Dale Kurow, a New York-based executive coach, says it’s a great way to relax your body and quiet your mind.

    4. Fill your mind with positive information

For some people, being in a quiete atmosphere is an opportunity to recall all their worries. This can be corrected if you start focusing and appreciating those good things and times in your life. Also listening to inspiring music can give you a great relief from stress.

Spending your weekend in Thanksgiving and appreciation about the past and a great future can develop great energy within that would carry you through out the new week.

    5. Eat healthy food

During weekend , it might be tempting to reward yourself with lots of junk food and booze . However, this can leave you lethargic and sluggish on Monday, which definitely won’t help your stress levels.

Try not to use the weekend as an excuse to make unhealthy choices . For the most part of the weekend stick to “low-fat, high-fiber, carbohydrate-rich meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables,” which The Physicians Committee reports is the best diet for reducing stress.

    6. Forget about work .

One major way to improve the quality of your lifeis to work all the time you work and play all the time you play. Allow your mind to dwell on the present and forget about what has happened in the past and what would happen in the future.

This is a big challenge for a lot of us — but the most successful people don’t stress about that upcoming presentation, or that missed deadline from the previous week. Instead, they focus on enjoying whatever it is they’re doing now.

    7. Break away from your gadgets.

What’s worse than allowing technology to drain all of your precious free time? Don’t fall into this trap — actually put your phone and laptop away for at least for major  part of the weekend. Successful people cut back on their gadgets over the weekend in order to sleep better and prevent technology-induced stress and burnout.
